47769
- 47491 D1753
47769 was renumbered from D1753 to 47491 on 17/04/74 and was
named 'HORWICH ENTERPRISE' at Horwich Works on the
20/06/85. The nameplates were removed in April 1991 at Doncaster
Works. In November 1992 the loco was named 'RESOLVE'
without a ceremony. Virgin Cross Country leased the locomotive
as part of their class 47 Cross Country fleet for a period, but
handed the locomotive back to EWS on 17/12/99.
'RESOLVE'
was the stored at Toton pending repairs which never took place.
The loco was subsequently sold to Harry Needle Rail Road Company
for scrap. However Riviera immediately purchased the locomotive
and moved it to 'The East Lancs Railway' for initial repairs to
take place.
The loco later moved to Barrow Hill for bogie repairs, then
moved to L&NWR for TPWS and OTMR fitment. Both fitments have
taken place.
The locomotive is due to return to operational condition in late
2006. It will remain in Virgin Livery and carry the 'RESOLVE'
nameplates once again.
This locomotive is
now in operational status.
