47848  -  47632    47068    D1652

47848 was taken over by Virgin Cross Country and painted into the Virgin house colours in March 1998. The loco was named 'NEWTON ABBOT FESTIVAL OF TRANSPORT' at Newton Abbot Station on 13/05/00. (The nameplates were fitted at Longsight Depot on 11/05/00 and covered up). The loco went off lease and returned to Porterbrook Leasing on 27/04/03.

It was leased to Freightliner Heavy Haul on 19/05/03 until 31/12/04 but during that period of time it was out of use for many months awaiting engine repairs.

The locomotive was purchased by Riviera Trains on 01/01/05 still carrying its Virgin livery with red buffer beams and retaining its 'NEWTON ABBOT FESTIVAL OF TRANSPORT' nameplates. After engine repairs had taken place the loco returned back to service in August 2005.

In August 2006 the locomotive was repainted into Riviera house colours of Oxford blue livery and on Friday 1st September 2006, at L&NWR Crewe was renamed 'TITAN STAR' at a private ceremony.
