47853  -  47614    47141    D1733

D1733 was built to be the first British Rail blue liveried class 47. She was painted into experimental XP64 livery in early 1964 to run with the XP64 Mark 2 Blue and Grey liveried train set. In later days it was renumbered from 47141 to 47614.

In February 1990 the locomotive became 47853 later carrying Intercity Swallow livery and in 1997 was re-liveried into Virgin Cross Country.

In November 2001 she was repainted into XP64 turquoise-blue once again carrying the number D1733. This livery was chosen by Rail Express magazine and was named 'RAIL EXPRESS’ at Grosmont Station, North Yorkshire Moor Railway on 27/04/02.

The locomotive was handed back to Porterbrook Leasing and immediately sold to Riviera Trains in October 2002, retaining 'RAIL EXPRESS’ nameplates.

The XP64 livery is currently staying as the chosen livery for 47853, however the livery will be refreshed in the near future.
